If no one knows the answer, Ron, then I'm sure you could take the slightly longer way around and remove the bearings from your alternator and go shopping with the old ones in hand. If the shop truly has all kinds of bearings, they should be able to fix you up. Mike Ron Toby wrote: > Hi Does anyone know what size bearings are needed in a alternator for a 85 vanagon? It is a weekender Westy with the two battery setup. My belt broke Sunday as I was leaving for church and when I replaced it on Monday the bearings are keeping all grades of noise intermittantly. Help I hope to be able to salvage the alternator without having to replace the whole thing. There is a shop arond here that sells all kinds of bearings and I hope to be able to just remove it and put more right in with no down time.
