Well sure, just use the bottom to make a frame or support for the seat
tracks on the upper part of a seat swivel - sure, a generic, takes any
vanagon seat support or frame.  But of course.

I tend to go for other euro car seats that are bigger/better than vanagon
seats though. I noticed they were short under the thighs on the bottom
cushion right away.

Yeah, I know there are 2 for sale down here in San Diego. Both tan, both 
the better folding type, $50 and $200, both for sale for a long time on 
Craigslist. Probably have a hard time finding someone to take them for 
free. I still have a few myself though I have thrown most of them away. 
One thing is you can use one to make a single seat as I have done a 
couple times. Remove everything from the bottom frame, cut the inside 
half off, weld on the main plate from a swivel seat, and then install 
any front seat you like to match your other seats.
