Stuck control cable? Improperly adjusted cable? Stuck heat control valve? (have a friend watch the valve while you move the lever) Worn foam on flap(s) inside fresh air/heat box? If control cable doesn't work, and/or heat control valve is stuck and you're desperate for a quick fix, find your heat control valve, unhook the cable and turn it off. If that doesn't work and you still need a quick fix, block the fresh air ram behind upper exterior front grill. If the valve/cables work properly, then it may be that foam on flaps has deteriorated. When van up to speed, fresh air comes in via the ram, into the fresh air/heat box, through the hinged flaps in box, then past heater core. If foam seals on flaps that control flow of air are worn, air will come past them. Cheers, Neil.
