Robert, one thing that seems missing (explicitly, anyway) in your summary is from Jim Arnott's summary - Jim works for an Internet Services Provider which provides hosting services and has room on its hosting server(s). It also seems like I remember from previous discussion that Jim manages the technical services for said ISP, and I took that part of his summary to be at least a mild suggestion toward an option which would give him a very 'hands on' capability. Perhaps that is already well known, and is what you refer to at the end - turning over as was originally planned, etc. Vern McIntosh ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Fisher" <garciasghostvw@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2008 12:39 PM Subject: Re: New platform-www.vanagon.us.com? > Which brings us in a roundabout way back to the original point of these > threads: > > A couple of times a year Gerry goes down and somebody has to go find the guy > that has the machine and get him to go kick it. > > The hardware is getting old, the software has been old and the whole thing > is slow and getting slower. > > A sizable chunk of the internet in America cannot get email from Gerry > because AT&T has decided it is spam. > > The guy that has the will and the responsibility to administer the list > doesn't have the means to do it properly. > > Did I miss anything? > > Is there anybody out there than can catch up to Tom C. and have a face to > face with him? > It seems that the fundamental solution lies in getting him to hand over the > machine, or at least the drive(s) it lives on, as was originally planned. > > Cya, > Robert >
