I went to see a 7 passenger 84 Vanagon today and I was surprised  because it
had no power steering.   A few years back I had an 82 1/2  Wolfsburg edition
full camper and I'm pretty sure it had power steering.
I have also had a 90 Carat which had power steering.
It is something about the trim level in the early models which determines
whether or not it is fitted?

Frankly once up to speed it is not necessary but at low speed for parking
etc I think my wife would find it hard.

Any help on this would be appreciated.
