Avoid Hiace turbodiesels too, unless they are 3-liters. 4WD Delicas are all SWB and pitch extremely badly on rough ground. The few Delicas I have seen in Canada were all 4WDs. The export name for these vans is L300. I have driven first and 2nd-generation 4WD gas Delicas extensively from 1986, and they are pretty reliable. Just don't take them onto gravel roads if you don't like dust... the unsealed tailgate latche desigh allow dust to pour in! The cabover delica went out of production in Japan in the early 90s (remaining in production by Hyundai in Korea, sold as Hyundai H100), being replaced by a typically low-roofed front-engined space-compromised van and now by a stationwagon!
