Mike,

They were officially bastardized by VW. =)  Kind of like those watercooled
bay window buses from Mexico. Looks like someone
made the radiator enclosure in their own backyard.

While in Manila, I saw what I thought were homemade buggies. Later I
discovered they were VW made Australian Country Buggies. Apparently, VW
dumped them there and a few other places when the Aussie military decided
the car was not suitable for them.
