Over the last few months I've been helping a friend design a Sprinter based "Westy". He needed a larger vehicle than his Vanagon Westfalia, but didn't like anything on the market. We found a 2006 Sprinter cargo van with very low mileage then had it custom built for his needs by GTRV.com in Vancouver. You can see we borrowed plenty of ideas from his Vanagon, and changed things to suit his requirements. We added a large indoor garage, hot water, furnace, more cabinets, plenty of 12V and 110v power outlets and more. Nice thing about the 06 Sprinters is they have plenty of power (75+ MPH up the mountain passes) and they get 23 MPG with their diesel engine. They also drive like a modern vehicle and have real AC. Personally this van is too large for me, but one day I'd like a smaller Sprinter with a Poptop. Here are the photos; http://californiavan.com/sprintercamper/
