It appears it was the new Meyle heater valve that was defective. I put the old OE valve back in and so far so good. BTW it was not that hard to change with the rad installed (maybe one hour), but I did get a coolant shower ;o( I ended up using the spare tire "clamshell" as a backrest to get in a good position to do the work. Pascal '84 Westy -----Original Message----- Sent: Tuesday, June 17, 2008 1:40 PM I replaced my front heater valve with a Meyle unit, installed new 5/8" Gates heater hose from the engine to the valve, and used new spring clamps on both hoses to secure them to the valve. This was all preventative maintenance. I discovered a tiny leak last night and it's very hard to see where it's coming from. I thought at first it was the spring clamp on the 5/8" heater hose so I put the old worm drive clamp on. No luck. I'm thinking of just putting the old valve back on tonight, but because I know it will be a real challenge to change, I was just wondering if anyone else had a new valve leak. I'm wondering if maybe the top hose/valve joint might be leaking. I find it hard to imagine any coolant getting by the seal made by those spring clamps though. Thanks Pascal '84Westy
