I buy ten gallon containers and flush numerous race cars and my converted Vanagons very often. I am buying ATE in quantity below what WalMart sells regular DOT4 in the small container. The quality isn't anywhere near the same in my eyes. I don't like the LMA versions and those are not suited for race applications. df ----- Original Message ---- From: Jack R. <jack007@comcast.net> To: dylan friedman <insyncro@YAHOO.COM>; vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Saturday, June 21, 2008 2:15:47 PM Subject: RE: Brake Fluid, Flushing Dylan, Castrol GT LMA Dot 4 Brake Fluid, is a fraction of the cost of the "LMA" stand for "Low Moisture Absorption"... since it is lower in cost, you can afford to really flush your system well, and frequently. The standard Vanagon braking system really doesn't benefit that greatly from the high cost ATE Super Blue. Just flush it good with the Castrol, and start with the right rear, then the left rear, then the right front followed by the left front. Try ATE Super Blue and alternate with gold so you can see the difference in color while flushing. dylan ----- Original Message ---- From: Neil2 <vidublu@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Friday, June 20, 2008 11:13:37 PM Subject: Brake Fluid, Flushing Hey volks, At one point did 'they' include brake fluid flushes in Preventative Maintenance? For some reason, I never heard tell of such a thing until just a few years ago. -- Neil2 '82 Diesel Westy (Duckie)
