I love these conspiracy theorists! Actually, Oil has long been determined to be one of the lowest cost energy sources and our distribution infrastructure has been built around this. If we were to move to alternative fuels, that would impact the "funds" which many politicians receive. There is an entire world economy built around this "cheap" energy source, and the demand is inelastic... thus the profit structure feeds the greedy, and the end users are forced to pay through the nose. If we were to focus our efforts on seeking out viable alternatives, then the lock on energy would go away. We would have healthy competition due to alternate solutions... instead of which source to purchase oil, we would have the option of which energy source to select. This is true competition, and the supply / demand will drive the competition without regulation. Let's put a challenge out to the list members... be the first to have an alternative fuel powered Vanagon, which can travel 100 miles on that source. By alternative... that can be, Electric, Air, Water, etc. See below links for Air / Water: http://www.theaircar.com/acf/air-cars/air-cars.html http://waterpoweredcar.com/ http://www.optimalride.com/2008/05/24/get-an-electric-car-today-convert-your -car-to-an-electric-vehicle/ Jack R.
