Actually, many Vanagons (especially the later models) have the rear seat
that folds flat.  Here's a link to the procedure for laying the rear bed
down in the Owner's Manual:

  That's as flat as those seats go (obviously).
  Only the plywood and foam Westy rear seat/ bed goes totally flat.
