I'd say 'yes' and I'd also say there is No Substitue for Dissasembly and Inspection. Followed by proper treatment. perhaps you might like the idea of maknig a very tiny , ultra-mini slit in the CV boot, and use that spot to spray motorcycle chain lube into to lube the CV joint generously. And seal the tiny incesion back up. scott ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kip Jacob" <kip.jacob@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, July 16, 2008 10:45 AM Subject: '83 Air Cooled 'ASI Conversion' rear end clunk > Hi > > As the Jacob Family Campster "Alivan" leaves its home base in > beautiful Sedro-Woolley and travels the highways and byways of the > Pacific Northwest on occasion a clunk - clunk noise is heard from the > rear end. > > I have searched the archives and the consensus of the search is worn CV > joints. > > The noise comes and goes.
