The '80 models didn't have the plastic vent covers on the outside of the
"D" pillars (had integral metal slats) and no provision for adding the
plastic covers either.

It has an '87 padded dash and '87 steering wheel as well as an automatic
transmission ... which would be an additional pain to install along with
the '87 weekender interior and wasserboxer engine.

The rear apron is different on '85 and newer vans so it's too bad that
that apron doesn't show in any of the pics.

I'd say it's an '87 with a transferred VIN #.
