People not noticing non-functioining warning lights is much more common than you might think. you ARE, after all, suppossed to turn the key to 'on' first..............see that the waring lights come on, THEN turn the key to 'start' . ( and watch them go out after the engine fires up ) of course everyone just turnst the key straight to 'start' so they don't notice non-working warning lights. I've even see people ignore a stock oil pressure guage on a subaru reading zero. hey, as long as it fires up and goes, it must be ok ! ! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jake de Villiers" <crescentbeachguitar@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Thursday, July 24, 2008 12:23 AM Subject: Re: a newbie with some problems: hissing 2.1 L WBX and thrown belt > And there's a good chance the DPO disabled the lights and buzzer because > he > was sick and tired of them! > > On Wed, Jul 23, 2008 at 10:14 PM, John Bange <jbange@gmail.com> wrote: > >> > you'd think he would have mentioned or noticed bright red LED warning >> > lights...... >> > so maybe none were on, or just at the last minute. >> >> 'course there's always the possibility of a bad warning light.
