Good Volks, I have a need to be able to operate a credit card scanner connected to a laptop computer that is internet enabled and has a wireless connection. Problem is I haven't a clue as to how to set this up. Heck, I don't have a clue as to what specific equipment I need or what services I must purchase. I have a merchant account, I have a card scanner. I've yet to purchase the laptop, but that is coming once I understand all this, But what about the wireless part - the internet connection and the wireless service for such a set up.What is needed to make the laptop "internet enabled?" And what about the wireless connection? Merchant Services companies usually make two type of card machines - one that dial a number over a land line, or one that dials up on an wireless service of some sort. I don't know what that latter is. The first doesn't work for me because of the land line connection issue. The second is so expensive as to be prohibitive. I have found one service that provides a scanner that can be use at the point of sale, but you must take it home, connect to your internet enabled desktop or what have you through the USB port, and it automatically up loads. the data over the internet. Surely there must be a way to do the same with a laptop using a wireless connection - AT the point of sale. Is there anyone that know of these things? Please respond off list. Thanks, John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
