Subject:Re: Westy Drain situation

Westfalias 80 thru Early 81 used the larger drain and waste water
ventilation system because RV regulations in the US and Canada of the time
required it. It was basically a "carry-over" design from the 76-79 Westies
and in fact many of the parts interchange with it. Late 81-91 Westies used
the simpler P-trap and Flex Hose without any vapor ventilation as the
regulatory guys figured it wasn't really needed. In fact, this and similar
systems today are used on small trailers being sold right now.
