Chris, It's pouring down rain here (finally) so I'm going from memory a couple of years , but I'm trying to determine if there was one length of rail made for nonwesties and another length made for westies. the ones I have came from a GL. I have a westy. If I were to install my rails without trimming them, they would extend under the stove cabinet an inch or so. Since I have never seen a factory installation of these in a westy, I am not sure how it was done or it it makes any difference. Question: if you don't need to remove cabinets, and you are suggesting the use of a radial arm saw, are you saying that the floor will come out without removing cabinets? When I got my westy in 2003, the floor was the only thing installed in the rear cabin. the rest was in a heap and I had to figure it out. But I've never had to consider removing the floor. If it comes out with the stuff in place, then great, this is what I need to know before getting started. I was hoping to have a good excuse to pull the stove cabinet, as the LP fridge setting won't stay lit underway and I need to check it out anyway. Thanks, Jim On Mon, Aug 25, 2008 at 11:53 AM, <JordanVw@aol.com> wrote: > its been done many times before.. i have some grey or tan ones w/ floor > tracks if anyones interested. easy way to make your westy into a 6 > passenger. > > all you do is drill up thru the dummy plastic bolts that fill the seat > tracks holes under your van. then you take a radial arm saw and set it to > the thickness of your plywood subfloor. then cut strips wide enough for > the metal seat track rails to lay into. > THERE IS NO CABINET REMOVAL NECESSARY!!!! > all vanagons, weather theyre passenger vans, or panelvans, or westfalias, > they ALL come with the welded on nuts under the floor for mounting the > middle seat tracks. > > the westys came with dummy plastic bolts to fill these holes. you can see > them from under your van. drill up thru them and thats where your track > will be.. > > its all about measuring.. but there is no cabinet removal necessary.. > > chris > > > > > ************** > It's only a deal if it's where you want to go.
