Wow, we're beating the crap out of a dead horse here.... The bottom line is this for me, and probably for others. I sit in front of my computer 10 hours a day, so do others. An email comes in, I see it immediately upon receiving it. If it's work related I can act on it, if it's personal, it can wait, etc. but I read everything, including Vanagon posts. I can usually tell by the title or a quick glance at a Vanagon post whether I want to read it, save it my personal archives, reply to it or add one of my insightful and witty comments. The point is I've at least seen part of every email. If I send out a "Help! My gas line is leaking" I can guarantee you that within a few minutes someone will post a reply. If that were Samba I'd have to wait until someone said, "gee, I think I'll log onto the web, go to the samba, go to the forums, go to the sub forums and see if there are any new gas leak posts." This is a living breathing lists and lots of stuff, besides this topic, are happening in real time. There's often a guy with his engine hanging halfway out with greasy hands typing a request/. Archive too slow? Who gives a crap. Ask the same damn question again. Who cares if someone snipes back "read the archives". The archives are slow and full of posts where people hit "reply" to a digest mode email. Forgetaboutem. Plus this email method has the distinct ability to fill peoples email boxes with 100 posts titled "RE: Who is the Manager of this list?" which quickly filters out the whiners. ;) Bryan
