Kidding aside,

I don't think the picture was doctored, but the speedo face probably was.

When you import a Vanagon or truck to the US, you have to change the speedo
to MPH. Take the speedo out, black out the KPH and rub on MPH, voilair!

I'm not sure what to make of the red "zone". Maybe it's when to shift from
1st to 2nd? : )
