A number of times I've re-aimed mine on the road when a load in the back was making them high. As Andrew says, putting them at the top of the trunk-line of the next car ahead on the highway will give excellent low-beam visibility without bothering people. The rising cutoff to the right is wonderful for seeing signs on the roadside. The small disadvantage is that when you pass a passenger vehicle they will have bright light in their mirror for a few moments. In many years of use in several different vehicles I only remember two people complaining after being passed.
