John, they're common as dirt -- $25+ at the FLAPS to as much as you want to pay for a marine one with gimbaled sensor. I just bought one for $6, closeout at BJ's Wholesale Club. The recent ones are self-compensating, just throw them in calibration mode and do a slow circle while they map the deviation curve (it's a sine wave, one cycle, so they can do that). <http://www.google.com/search?q=fluxgate+compass&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a> David At 05:31 PM 9/22/2008, John Rodgers wrote: >Volks, > >This is a bit off topic, but with as many members as we have interested >in all kinds o things, I was hoping some were electronics bugs enough to >kinda know about these things - and hopefully know some websites that I >might search through to try and find such a critter as this old WWII - >and maybe Vietnam Era Compass set up.
