If you are interested in what VW sells now in Europe (and SA) as a camper--the California--look at their UK website: http://www.volkswagen-vans.co.uk/california/ It looks very much like an "updated" Vanagon Westy design. Maybe better. You can get 4-motion and a TDI engine. Of course it doesn't have the clearance of a Vanagon, but it looks a lot nicer than what they did with the Eurovan. This is VW, of course, not Westfalia.... In Europe, at least until recently, you could take your vehicle to Westfalia and have them do pretty much what you wanted. I talked with the owner (a climbing guide) and inspected his Vanagon Syncro in Cortina, Italy, a while back. The closet/bed/water tank looked the same as our. Different stove/fridge--bigger fridge. Double-walled plastic windows all around for winter. He had started with a Syncro delivery van and had them do it all. Richard
