Subject:GoWesty Motor Options

Hello All,

I recently took The Girl ('87 Westy) to GoWesty because I was having trouble
getting her smogged. The existing motor has about 190,000 miles on it.

They apparently did some fine tweaking and the van passed the test.

But, what I had assumed to be lifter noise GoWesty (Chris) says is rod
bearing noise and that the motor is ready to go.

I trust GoWesty - their diagnosis is not the question.

The question is: I'm thinking of replacing the motor with their 2.2 or 2.3
motor. They both use regular gas and come with a 48,000 mile warranty and
the cost would probably end up close to what it would cost to repair the
existing motor.

Anyone with experience with these two motors?

BTW - I have niether the time, tools, skills or space to tackle this problem
myself - I must have others do it.

Thanks...........,

Markus and The Girl in Pismo Beach
