Jim, that 51 PSI MAX rating is just that, the max the tire maker desigen the
tire for.  it is NOT the pressure the tire would normally be run at.  I
don't know what the right inflation might be for that tire on a '71.  On and
'86 Westy the door jam VW recommended pressure for the 205's (assuming the
205's you have have the proper rating) is 30 front, 40 rear.
