Subject:Re: Don't cry for me Wasserboxer

Failure of the rubber coolant gasket in a Waterboxer is a given;
failure of the compression gasket is not. Unless the engine has been
subjected to extreme heat, failure of the two would be unrelated.

There is no stop leak product that will help the rubber coolant gasket
as far as I know. I don't like to use that kind of stuff anyway. Not
that I am beneath trying them. Preemptive replacement is probably
overdoing it, in that you can drive for a while after they start
leaking. Replacing the gaskets isn't all that bad a job in my opinion.
