Uhm,  I have never had (that I know of) a compression gasket failure,
so I cannot speak of this scenario, but  every 2.1 I have ever had
(except my current GoWesty 2.3,) has had a coolant gasket leak which I
successfully stopped with Barr's Stop Leak. The only adverse effect I
ever noted, was some residue in the coolant reservoir (which I cleaned
out.) Also, I never realized any compromise to the cooling system.
