That is exactly how I understand that the Coolant COnditioner works - it
makes the seals swell.

It worked for me - and no gunk. I've used Bar's Leak in other vehicles but
have been afraid to use it in my Vanagon. As we have all seen there are
clearly two camps on using it. SO I was a bit afraid.
