There is quite a but of information on theSamba.com about pistons and the difference between manufactures. Tencentlife on the Samba has done some experimentation with various setups.

Also Van Caf� sells German Meyle pistons and sleeves, and I believe you can buy pistons and sleeves from GoWesty but you have to call them as they are not listed on their website.

FWIW, I believe Boston Bob used COFAP, or good used and refurbished OE piston and sleeves depending on what the customer requested.
