The Shell Rotella oil is an excellent heavy duty oil. Unfortunately it does the PH additive for diesel are not needed in a gasoline engine and the extra additives and zinc kill catalytic converters. It also should no longer be used in 2007 and later heavy duty Diesel engines that need the ULSD fuel. There is even new formulae Delvac 1 and Rotella synthetic for that. If you really want to know what is going on in your oil you have to do the oil testing. Anything else is just imagination. I use Rotella 15w-40 in my inline VW's which is regarded as the best by my VW tech for the older I4 1.8L which have an oil pressure problem as they age. The rotella seems to stay cleaner longer in older engines. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jake de Villiers" <crescentbeachguitar@GMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 10:10 PM Subject: Re: Mobil-1 shortage > +1 on the diesel truck oil.
