RE: Replacing locks and getting them to match original/old keys
ANY competent locksmith can match the keys.  A couple of years ago the
ignition switch/key assembly in my daily driver had to be replaced.  The
mechanic that did the work took the new assembly to the local locksmith and
had it matched to the existing key before installing the new unit.  No
problem, no hassle.  The VW dealer that didn't do that was either ignorant
or lazy, maybe both.
