well there ya go - that sounds great - a website dedicated to 'reaching' VW about the US market and what we'd love to have and buy. Nice clever but obvious domain name is a great first step. listentousVW.org. bringmyvanbackVW.org ( like that one a bit ) VWlistenplease.org ( looking for words that seem sepearate and are easy to read when run together - don't like this one ) listenpleaseVW.org ..............that's my nomination at the moment. or .com ......or whatever. The tag on the end doesn't matter much I don't think. '.org' sounds more official and less commercial. getmyvanbackVW.org. ( those slimeballs might sue over having 'vw' in the domain name - sheesh. ) Don't even get me started...........and this point should, I think, be in the first paragraph of the website......VW you have tens of thousands of loyal followers that you are NOT listening too ! That's the tragic shame of it .............they have a market right here in their hands...........and they either don't know, ( how could then not ? ) or don't care. Seems that they don't care. < and let's suggest a discount for people who have previously owned VW's .........I think that's a great marketing gambit - that would automaticcly pull 'us' types in for new products. < in Forida that have two for one sales now at dodge dealers......buy one high end monster truck for $ 45K......get one stripper truck included for free > , It's encouraging to read all the ideas about how a Vanagon configuration vehicle could be viable.........and how the Japanese still have front control passenger vans etc. And VW.............don't forget the Ground Clearance !! That is one of the 'signature elements' that makes it stand out from the crowd of mini-vans, and gives it great, great utility !! I like listenpleaseVW.org at the moment - :-) scott ( many listendammitVW.org ) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony Egeln" <regnsuzanne@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 5:32 PM Subject: Re: Making of a Vanagon - Now New T3 I've brought the idea to the list before, that is to create a website dedicated to convincing VW to re-open the T3 assembly line, albeit with updated electronics and power train. Folks voiced their skepticism with objections that Andrew has debunked below, i.e. that the vehicle COULD be brought up to current USA & Canadian safety standards. I would love to have a new T3 TDI Syncro.......I think that a lot of people would...... Airbags are easily added. Stability control likewise (but this is no guarantee of safety... "Wheels" in Australia recently tested a Toyota Kluger (=Highlander) and the stability control did NOT step in when it should have... and the vehicle rolled several times (and the Aussie market demands much better suspension than US). >> since the only 'people sit right in front' vehicles sold in north America >> are trucks. Well, the Japanese have continued with forward-control vans (and likewise the 2nd-generation Mitsubishi Delica made by Hyundai as the H100). These must be passing Euro NCAP offset-head-on crashtests, which the T3 would pass with flying colors. ------------------------------------------------------------ + To unsubscribe from the Vanagon List send an e-mail to + listserv@gerry.vanagon.com with SIGNOFF VANAGON + in the body of the message. ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ + To unsubscribe from the Vanagon List send an e-mail to + listserv@gerry.vanagon.com with SIGNOFF VANAGON + in the body of the message. ------------------------------------------------------------
