then you must be in California. .........so that gives you Subaru............and another choice, VW inline 2.0 liter 4. Not sure what years those start, but there might be OBD-I versions, which you could get through a Ca Smog Referee. Not sure how well they fit, but I'd love to do a Nissan V-6 engine conversion in a vanagon. it's been done...... seems to me it would be one rugged long-lasting vanagon engine. Are the smog ref's back working again ? I read on the subaruvanagon list they were shut down a while for budget reasons in California. Of course, if your van is registered outside the smog areas of Ca , you only smog it when you sell it, not every two years. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike Miller" <mwmiller@cwnet.com> To: "Scott Daniel - Turbovans" <scottdaniel@TURBOVANS.COM>; <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, December 19, 2008 3:49 PM Subject: Re: subject Re: TD/TDI noise? > Thanks to all for the noise replies. That's beyond the budget so I guess it's either Bostig, > if > it ever gets CARB approval, or a Subaru, whenever the current engine goes. > > Mike > > > O > >
