well................ two schools of thought on that........... if it's sitting on the pump.......and you drive off and remember it...............fair chance you can go back and get it. If you leave it on the vehicle somewhere, and drive off, it might fall off just anywhere........just anywhere out on the road that's 'unfindable.' I put mine on the pump or inside the sliding door on the floor even. The stock gas cap is pretty nice I think, especially if the key lock is working in it .........the key won't come out unless the cap is in the locked position - pretty clever. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike S" <mikes@FLATSURFACE.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, December 26, 2008 6:56 PM Subject: Re: Gas Filler Line in your Fill Tube while driving > At 09:36 PM 12/26/2008, Scott Daniel - Turbovans wrote... >>As someone pointed out ...................if you have the stock >>locking gas >>cap...........it's fairly fool proof in that if you keep your ignition >>key >>and gas cap key on the same ring....... >>you HAVE to lock the gas cap back on, in order to be able to start the >>car - > > I don't have a locking gas cap, but find it sits nicely in the slider > door handle. Better than sitting it on the pump. (That will last until > I do a nice repaint, I suppose)
