I hope you're okay by now, but if not you might look at the place behind McDonald's just south of Hwy. 203 on your way into Mammoth. The guy's name is Bob, but I can't remember the name of his place. A-1 maybe? He got me on the road again after an alternator problem that required some troubleshooting. Sierra German Auto in Bishop is also good, but... they're in Bishop. Ahh, I found it. It is A-1 Auto Repair. 760.934.7870 Bob Trousdale '90 Westy > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] > On Behalf Of john schaper > Sent: Friday, December 26, 2008 6:22 PM > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Subject: Help--Stuck in Mammoth Lakes > > Something's wrong and its not the battery. Drove up here > Thur, with severe snow, etc. No problems. Went to start the > 84 vanagon today--nothing. Charged the battery and the > symptom persists. Manual transmission. I don't hear a > clicking sound, but there is a humming noise. My guess is > that when I drove here, things got wet--but don't know what > things. Can anyone suggest troubleshooting. THe engine > won't even grind, so its not fuel and its not the battery. > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG - http://www.avg.com > Version: 8.0.176 / Virus Database: 270.10.0/1864 - Release > Date: 12/26/2008 1:01 PM >
