Yes, it's a pretty decent engine...but it should never have been installed
in these bricks.  At just 52HP, it can't be driven in what I believe is a
safe manner--i.e. too slow to merge or pull out across intersection, etc.
Now, it's close cousin, the 1.6TD is far more comfortable pushing things
around, and an even better bet would be the 1.9TD or TDI
