I just wanted to clarify something for people who are importing the mbox file into a mail client other than opera: the reason I chose opera as the recommended client is that it implements an indexed search. What's important is that this means it can search the entire archives in seconds. Most other email clients have a search function which doesn't use an "index", so searching in these clients will take a long time (assuming you are trying to actually search the text of the message bodies and not just the subject). You can get around this by using something like google desktop (or whatever there is for macs, I'm sure there's something). If you are having trouble getting fast searching to work some other way, putting the mail in opera will "definitely work" for this purpose (in any operating system). -Wes On Sun, Jan 11, 2009 at 5:42 PM, Hugo Varotto <vanagon@varotto.org> wrote: > I'm currently importing it under MacOSX 10.5.6 (Leopard), just chose > the option "Import from Mbox", it's taking a while (500+Mb) > > This is awesome, thanks a lot to all the people involved in creating > these archives ! > > Hugo > > > > > On Jan 11, 2009, at 2:12 PM, Mike S wrote: > > At 04:50 PM 1/11/2009, neil N wrote... >> >>> Under Mac OS v.10.4.11 the mbox file opened up with "Text Edit".
