John,
For the most part yes! The engine pipes will did and line up just fine. In
fact VW superseded the rear Syncro pipe with the 2WD. The elbow, muffler,
and Cat is the same. The j-pipe, muffler hangers, and tailpipe should be
different. The Syncro engine sits lower in the body but the j-pipe for the
Syncro gets and extra kick and the muffler brackets mount the muffler up
higher. There were two different factory tailpipes over the years. The goal
was ground clearance and keeping water from easily flowing into the muffler.

Subject: Exhaust Pipes Question

Will a 2.1L WBX Syncro Exhaust system fit onto a standard 2.1 L WBX in a
standard 2WD 88 GL?

Thanks.
