Lightning from clear skies is pretty rare. Although there's probably someone, somewhere, who is the exception, I think most people can recognize a thunderstorm before it's on top of them, or can access a weather forecast. "Males are killed 4.6 times as often as females," and "the same studies showed that males in their twenties are the most frequent victims of lightning" - http://www.nssl.noaa.gov/papers/techmemos/NWS-SR-193/techmemo-sr193-10.html Those statistics hardly reflect random, unexpected events, but poor choices.
