Some time after I put a Subaru engine (EJ22)  in my auto 1982 Vanagon
I replaced the auto transmission with one from a 1986 van.  I did not
use the '86 torque converter but retained the earlier one,
refurbished.  I later learned that the older converters are slightly
different to the original ones.

Does anyone know how they differ and whether this is likely to cause
any noticeable issues?
