You should see how fast fuel is flowing out of the tank. If the tank partially blocked the new pump will be noisy, overheat and burn out too. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Matthew Snook Sent: Saturday, February 28, 2009 2:51 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: fuel pump instructions? I am about to replace my fuel pump, which is making an awful racket. My Bentley has info on page 20.16 for checking the rate, but nothing that I can see on replacing the pump. Is there anything I should watch out for? I have a new pump, but that is all. Is there some compound that is used on the hose connections or anything like that? Thanks for the info, Matt
