I've had issues with the throttle hanging up a bit on my '85 manual transmission 1.9 (set up with '84 dual throttle switches). I kept trying to figure out a solution, then i got enraged and just bent the output of the throttle body (where the accelerator cable meets) upwards accordingly (just a bit). No problems ever sense. If it looks like it's rubbing there, "adjust" it. -Craig '85GL turned Westy On Sat, Feb 28, 2009 at 8:20 PM, Scott Daniel - Turbovans < scottdaniel@turbovans.com> wrote: > since it's an auto trans vanagon I would be sure to check the lever and > throttle cable at the side of the transmission. > The throttle cable ends in a ball pivot on the trans lever. > I have seen that ball pivot be very rusty, even stuck. > point is........you want to be sure it's not at the trans......whatever > binding or drag you are experiencing. > I haven't see a throttle body to that actually, bind so much from wear that > it wouldn't return to zero throttle. > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Mike Collum" <collum@MYFAIRPOINT.NET> > To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> > Sent: Saturday, February 28, 2009 11:42 AM > Subject: Re: 85 vanagon throttle body swap... top mounted vs bottom mounted > TPS ???? > > > Oh, one other thing, the vacuum hose arrangement is different from early >> to late 1.9s.
