I've liked my Sony Xplode - sure it's time for an upgrade now but I've never had a problem. Not sure if it's the same but if you press the power button on mine it turns off the unit and leaves the face lit - but if you press and hold the power button down for a few seconds the unit beeps and the entire thing shuts down - no lit face plate. -- Thanks, Jeff '90 Carat (Grover) '86 (We call this one Parts) '78 Bus (Melissa) Patty's Bus
