The problem with the seal is ... the same part number is used for both a
10mm and a 12mm seal.  The 10mm (aftermarket) seal is better for
standard transmissions whereas the 12mm seal works fine for automatics.

The seal available through VW dealers is 12mm BUT the profile is a bit
different and isn't a problem when used with standard transmissions.

There is a little washer looking thing that goes into the flywheel for
holding the felt washer.  It is my understanding that the part is NLA.
