Michael, 
No matter what, you have to flush out all the coolant using detergent as the oil will coagulate in your radiator , heater cores and quickly�ruin any old hoses or cheap aftermarket ones you may have in the system.
After you will be able to�tell if it is a failure�of the�system�or human error.
So change nothing but the coolant as your first action.

Since the oil was changed before the trip and it has sat in my driveway for
a week, IF the oil was added before the trip, it would have traveled
throughout the system by now, right? Can't think someone would intentionally
do it.
