Thanks to all for the quick info.

Not gonna do it, I have an 88 that the gearbox is making quite a bit of noise 
through the gears. Also popping out of first. Guess its time. 150k

Anybody on the west coast have a good deal on a used trans taking up space in the 
g-rage?  let me know.
