Traveling NW, from Guadalajara, headed for Sayulita, is a monster climb, where I found myself wrestling with speeding Mexicans and hanging on to some very sharp curves. The SVX just ate it up, so no problems there. When I completed my climb and turned towards Compostella, the engine temp shot up and I pulled over. No radiator fan running and no heat from heater core. Tried to bleed what I presumed was a major air bubble, somewhere in there.......ass up, ass down, jumping up and down on rear bumper, etc....no luck. Puzzling because these things are supposed to be self bleeding, right? Pulled the bleed hose from the coolant reservoir and, as soon as I released it from its barbed teat, the hose began spewing steam. It blew steam for 20 minutes! Was I relieved? Hell yes and jumping up and down too. Reamed the bleed hole in the reservoir and went on to add two gallons! Just lovely to hear that radiator fan come on! On a side note, of course I was only carrying one gallon, so I waved down a passing Mejicano and gave him three hundred pesos, along with my order. When he returned with coolant and change, I rewarded him handsomely.........that guy made my day. The whole time I was on the side of the road (which seemed an eternity,) trucks were zooming past, with their engine brakes roaring. That's the loudest thing I've experienced since one of many Grand Funk concerts........I think, though I really don't remember. Now, enough of this and back to the beach............ Miguel
