VWAG seem to have been not nearly so successful as the Japanese in
constructing plastics that survive well through years of
exposure.  Pity, really.  I've often thought that VW should have
taken the completed Vanagon and handed it to Toyota, with
instructions to Touch Nothing, but please make it all reliable to
Japanese standards.  What a vehicle that would have been!
