How about this approach?  Have a piece welded across the bottom, between
the body spars/struts and a piece welded on the ends, vertical, to close off
the box.  Then cut through the floor and make either a hinged or plug door.
With some sort of locking device you now have a floor safe partially hidden
by the carpet.
