Thanks for that advice! I just replaced my fuel pump because it was making an awful racket and I was sure it would leave me stranded somewhere. So I replaced it, and guess what? The new (Bosch) pump is just as noisy as the last one; it sounds just the same to me. So I'll try your cleaning routine! I certainly thought that a new pump should be quieter than the old one. Matt -----Original Message----- From: Gary Bawden Subject: Chronic fuel pump problems ...A light went on - - a pump struggling for full electrical power would not be a happy pump! Took out the ground screw and scraped it down to bare metal, then after looking at the wire, cut a new on and crimped on new connectors... ...Reinstalled in Hector, not a sound was to be heard. Tried to start the engine and it fired right up, pump runs but so very quietly. Color me amazed!...
